How I’m Shopping Amazon's Prime Day (And Short Shopping List)
Over the last few months I’ve been reworking my relationship to money. I’ve documented it openly in hopes that it would help others feel less alone if they were learning how to manage their finances too. I’ve learned that an easy day for impulse spending are holidays that offer heavily discounted items you had no plans to purchase before the discount. Amazon’s Prime Day is this July 12th and July 13th and it's hard to ignore or to not want to add a million things to your cart.
I’ve sifted through some of the sales and pulled some items that I thought were worth the investment, but here are some caveats:
These are items that are my regular staples (moisturizer + hair care for instance) that I’m sharing because maybe they’re your staples too and you’ll actually save by buying now instead of next month
There are some items that I just found to be really great investments if you’re looking to fill an actual gap
You do not need most of these things though. I wanted to mention that again because sales are marketed to make you feel like you’re lacking something and need an object or thing in order to feel better, happier, or more excited. It’s okay to take a beat and decide if you actually need it before you press “checkout” or to decide that it’s not worth it right now and you can make with the extra $10 in three months instead.
But, if you have been waiting for some things to go on sale, here are my top picks.
PERSONAL CARE
Olly Wellness — I use their Sleep melatonin ($15) and Stress gummies ($15) regularly.
Venus Pubic Hair Kit ($30) — I love the razor in this kit. I use a different shaving cream, but the razor wins it all for me.
Laneige — The Lip sleeping mask ($16) and my go-to water bank moisturizer ($28) are deeply discounted. I stocked up.
R+Co Moisture Cream ($22) — I saw a ton of R+Co products at a discount, but this is the only one I can vouch for. It’s my go-to after wash cream.
Nippies Nipple Covers ($26.50) — These are my go-to nipple covers for bodysuits and sheer tops.
HOME THINGS
Victrola Record Player ($118) — I got my record player as a gift from my boyfriend and absolutely love it. While I have records, I also love how it makes the music sound even through bluetooth off my phone.
Doggy Bags ($8) — This is such a steal for a pack of 18 rolls. They’re so much more expensive at Target or Petco.
Nerf Blaster for Dogs ($20) — This is just a fun purchase, but can confirm it is apartment friendly and a lot of fun.
Cosori Air Fryer ($90) — We got this last Prime Day and it’s been such a lifesaver. We use it regularly and it helps us eat out less.
Yoga Blocks ($10) — These blocks are half off.
Kindle Paperwhite ($90) — I stole my boyfriend’s Kindle Paperwhite a few years ago and absolutely love it. It’s a good on the go reader and great at the beach/overall outdoors.
Bissell Stick Vacuum ($24) — We live in an apartment with wood floors and area rugs, so it didn’t make sense to get a huge vacuum we couldn’t store. This is such a workhorse of a vacuum for such a good price.
WORK THINGS
Visual Timer ($15) — I use this A LOT for work, especially when I’m anxious and need to “see” time.
Blue Yeti Logitech Podcasting Mic ($90) — This is one of the two mics I rotate through.
Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones ($229) — At this price they are definitely still expensive, but also $100 off, which is a good discount. I use these regularly to podcast, for exercising, and to work. I actually prefer them most days to my airpods and I like that the noise cancelling allows for an “Aware” mode so it’s not too noise cancelling.
